FAQ & TIPS

How do I use the ESP783?

Simply turn it on, set it to the desired mode, and place it an arm’s length away for optimal results. The maximum range is 10 meters, but closer gives a stronger field.

It can be plugged in via the included USB cord to run 24/7, or unplugged for up to 50+ hours runtime per full charge.

How should I orient it?

Orient the screen toward you with the broad flat top of the device directed upward. The magnetic field comes out the top of the device, curls down around the sides through you, and goes into the bottom.

But you can also experiment with laying the ESP783 on its side with the broad top facing you. Then magnetic North is directed at you. Conversely, face the bottom for magnetic South.

In a room, place it anywhere as long as it‘s within the 10m range, or ideally within arm’s length. The field passes easily through wood, plaster, pastic, and brick — but metal may partially block it.

What effects does this device have?

Depending on the mode, users have reported the following:

This is an experimental device. While no medical claims are being made, every user who has submitted feedback has been happy with it.

What are the various modes?

01 Schumann Classic - This is all 5 Schumann frequencies at the same time with equal strengths, so this is the way to maximize getting all the frequencies at once. In real life, the base frequency (7.83 Hz on average) is quite a bit stronger than the others, but there may be benefit to the higher ones, so this is the mode to use when you want the full Schumann effect evenly across the spectrum. Some users have reported vivid dreams on this and the next mode.

02 Schumann Golden - Here the frequencies decrease in strength as you go up in frequency, using the golden ratio, so that 14.3 Hz is 1.618x weaker than 7.83, and 20.8 is 1.618x weaker than 14.3 and so on. This is closer to how it is in real life. For the most authentic Schumann field, you’d use this one. Generally speaking, the Schumann frequencies should induce a more natural, earthy, grounded feel to the atmosphere in a room. Like if you were in a meditation room with crystals in it.

03 Schumann 7.83 Hz • Other Schumann generators only do this one, or do several but only one at a time. And they use harsh square waves or short sharp pulses, whereas I put a lot of engineering effort into ensuring the ESP783 emits smooth distortion-free unipolar sine waves, which is ideal. So if you want just the first fundamental of the Schumann frequencies, which is in the low alpha range, then use this one.

04 Schumann 14.3 Hz • This is in the high-alpha / low-beta brainwave range. Typical of “everyday waking state” consciousness.

05 Schumann 20.8 Hz • This is in the mid-beta range. Users report enhanced focus starting with this and the next three modes.

06 Schumann 27.3 Hz • High beta range. Personally, I use this for work and when doing podcast interviews. I feel it helps me think better on my feet. I feel more clarity and focus. Overall this is my favorite mode.

07 Schumann 33.8 Hz — Low gamma range. I also use this for clarity and focus, but find my brain syncs with Mode 06 better. Other users have reported good results with this and the gamma mode for alertness and focus.

08 Gamma 40 Hz — There’s a lot of research about 40 Hz gamma, like how light/sound stimulation at that frequency grows neurons in mice. The light from the power button is technically the same thing, minus the sound, so it may have effects along those lines (would need a proper scientific study to know for sure). Gamma is associated with intense thinking, revelatory insights, creative leaps, and so on… therefore this mode could support those.

09 Theta 5 Hz — This mode may be useful for shamanic work, meditation, hypnagogic states, and possibly astral travel. The reason I chose 5 Hz for theta is because it’s a subharmonic of 40 Hz gamma.

10 Delta 2.5 Hz — This brainwave frequency is most active during sleep, but it also produces a chilling/relaxing sensation during the day, a calming & grounding vibe. Users have reported better sleep on this mode.

11 Gamma + Theta — With 5 dividing into 40, this is theta and gamma together in a harmonious relationship. Probably best for meditation versus either of these alone.

12 Theta + Delta — An alternative to the delta mode, including for sleep, since theta is active during dreaming states. Some people have reported, however, that even modes 01 and 02 helped them with increased dreaming, so dream effects aren’t limited to just the delta and theta modes.

Overall, with there being 12 modes there’s lots to experiment with. Everyone is built somewhat differently, which is why the flexibility of the ESP783 is a good thing.

What else can I do with the ESP783?

This device is the "Swiss Knife" of low frequency magnetic field generators, so you can do many other experiments.

Here are some ideas:

Charge Water — Place the device atop a water cooler, or put a bottle of water on top. Set the ESP783 to Mode 01 or 02, and the water will be exposed to a stronger version of the Earth‘s natural frequency and magnetic field.

Use Crystals, etc. — Put crystals, stones, gems, or precious metals on top of the device. The magnetic and scalar fields filter through them and get “colored” by them. The unit will radiate their vibrations into your local space.

Power a room-sized coil — Obtain a roll of insulated wire or enamel magnet wire, 16 to 22 AWG thickness. Run it around the room or perimeter of a wall at least 5 times. More is better, but use thicker wire in that case to keep resistance low so that more current can pass through. Strip insulation/enamel from the ends and fasten them into the output port adapter. Then plug the adapter into the rear of the ESP783. The device will send a pulsing current through this room coil, creating a more uniform magnetic field than the device’s internal coil alone can. Note that there is a 47 ohm resistor in series with the output port, so don't worry about short circuiting it or using too low-resistance of a wire.

Power a Scalar Antenna — Any conductor with large surface area will act as a scalar wave antenna when connected to an oscillating voltage source. Easiest setup is to tape to a wall some aluminum foil or a mylar space camping blanket. The greater the surface area, the better. Connect it via an alligator-clip test-lead to a wire secured into the (+) of the output port adapter. The (-) can either be left unconnected, or connected to an Earth ground, or connected to another metal sheet opposite and parallel to the first. The ESP783 will thereby send a 3.4V signal into the (+) sheet, creating a low frequency & low power electric/scalar field that has additional effects beyond just pulsed magnetic fields.

How do I turn off the screen?

Hold down the Mode button for 2 seconds. At first it will show battery status; then the screen goes black. To turn screen back on, click the Mode button once or turn device off/on.

This is great for night use. If the device is still too bright, you can put it in the included case, or inside a box or wooden/plastic drawer.

Why won‘t the LED flash on Mode 08?

It‘s flashing, but just so rapidly that the eye can‘t see it (40 cycles per second). Try taking it into a dim room & wave it around a little. You will then see the flashing traced out in space.

Will the battery degrade if I leave it plugged in 24/7 or run it down to empty?

Not really, as there’s protection circuitry in the unit to prevent undercharging or overcharging. That is, you can't discharge it so low that it damages the battery, as the device shuts off before that point.

The caveat is that a lithium-polymer battery’s life is affected by how many charge cycles it has endured, so if you fully drain & charge it every 50 hours day after day, it will hit the cycle limit sooner than if you left it plugged in for a majority of that time.

That said, batteries may benefit from being cycled every once in a while, so optimally you would discharge and charge it at least once per month. It's not critical if you don’t. Just use it on battery when you need the portability, and plug it in when at home.
